What comes across the bench

We work on Android and iPhone, from the ₦2,000 handsets that everyone keeps as a spare to the flagships. Prices below are starting points — the final quote depends on the model and the part, and you get it before we open anything.

Screen & glass replacement

Cracked digitiser, dead touch zones, lines running down the panel, or a display that lights up but shows nothing. We replace the full assembly rather than gluing a new sheet of glass over a broken one — it lasts longer and the touch response stays factory-sharp.

Battery replacement

If the phone dies at 40%, swells enough to lift the back cover, or needs three charges a day, the cell is finished. We fit a fresh battery, run a full charge-and-drain test, and hand it back with the health reading printed on your receipt.

Charging port & connector

The cable has to sit at a certain angle. It only charges if you hold it. It charges, then stops, then charges again. Usually it is lint packed into the port — sometimes the connector itself is worn out. We clean first, replace only if cleaning does not hold.

Water damage & board-level repair

Rain, a bucket, the beach at Tanji. Bring it in switched off and do not put it on a charger — that is what kills them. We strip the board, ultrasonic-clean it, and reflow or replace the shorted components. Roughly seven in ten come back.

02 — The Bench

Two tables, one microscope, and a lot of patience

The Phone Doctor started in 2016 as a folding table outside a shop on Jang Jang Road, doing screen swaps for taxi drivers between fares. Ten years on we have a proper workshop with two benches, a hot-air station, an ultrasonic cleaner and a stereo microscope for the small stuff — but the job is the same one: take the phone apart carefully, find the actual fault, and put it back together so it stays fixed.

What that means in practice is that we do not guess. A phone that will not charge gets its port tested before anyone quotes you for a new one. A phone that will not turn on gets its board checked for a short before we tell you it is finished. If the honest answer is "this one is not worth repairing," you will hear that instead of a price.

We keep common parts on the shelf — screens and batteries for the handsets we see most — so a lot of repairs are done while you wait, sitting on the bench with a cup of attaya. Anything we have to order in, we tell you the day it lands.

Your data stays on your phone. We do not browse, copy or keep anything.
Thirty days on parts and labour. If the same fault returns, we redo it free.

Walk in any time we are open — no appointment needed for screens, batteries and charging ports. For board-level work, call ahead so we can clear a bench for you.

Last intake for same-day repairs is one hour before closing. Phones already on the bench can be collected any time we are open.
